Phase 4: Short-Genre Exercises
for Draußen vor der Tür:
Grade 8
Which exercise more effectively
builds on prior elements in the curricular sequence to
fulfill particular sets of Standards? Which
ones, and how?
After you read both exercises,
justify your choice in the Brainstorming Forum which
follows, or click directly on the Hints
to see what factors may play into your judgments. Then
proceed to examples of exercises for Grade 12.
Short-Genre Production, Grade 8
Write a diary entry as if you
were Frau Kramer.
Exercise B:
Short-Genre Production, Grade 8
Write a short letter to a friend giving your opinion about Frau Kramer. Tell the friend whether you like or dislike her, and why. Comment on whether or not you would have acted the way she did, and whether you think Borchert knew people like her in postwar Germany.
Which of these exercises is more
feasible for this learning level, and which of the sets of
Standards do they foster?
