Culture Standards Exercises
Read the two exercises below, and then, in the Brainstorming Forum below, comment on how these exercises foster the culture standards. If you don't want to brainstorm, go directly to the Hints, and then to the exercises for other standards.
Using the information found
above (after visiting at least 3 or 4 different websites),
students are told to assess the characteristics of these
sites. What voices and speech acts do they
reflect? What kind of information do they
provide? What is "missing" (what aren't they
saying)? Is the information in line with what students
have read in Draußen vor der Tür -- why or
why not?
Students are asked, in small
groups, to come up with key words to use in a search for
websites that would complement Draußen vor der
Tür, and present the justification for their
choices (in writing and orally).
